This section is devoted to framing general and specific matters that are crucial to moving forward on major policy matters, such as
Effective budgeting and government spending, budget control, federal deficit and debt
Social security, medicare, and other entitlement programs
World trade and especially trade agreements
Fair and appropriate levels of taxation
Foreign policy
The military and involvement in foreign wars
In each area, the idea is to give a relatively short summary of the issues, explain how politics might muddle the issues and how politicians might mischaracterize them, and suggest some steps toward moving forward. There aren’t necessarily policy proposals — in many areas the winning policy will be a compromise — but the aim is to provide a starting point for meaningful dialog. The “comments” section is the place for that dialog.
